How does this work

Live-or-Dye Fixed Viability Stains are amine reactive dyes that are impermeable to cell membranes. Dyes can enter dead cells that have damaged membrane integrity and covalently label free amines on intracellular proteins. Dye labeling is very stable and can immobilize and penetrate cells without losing fluorescence or dye transfer between cells. Live-or-Dye The staining scheme has been optimized to maximize the differentiation of live/dead cells, with minimal staining of live cells to prevent interference with immune staining.

Biotium has multiple Live or Dye options Reactive dyes are available for selection, covering the fluorescence spectrum, and achieving maximum flexibility in designing multi-color flow plates.

Biotium also offers two sampler kits, each containing five different dye colors, for excitation from all popular flow cytometry laser lines. Live-or-Dye The Sampler Kit, Standard (32016) is designed for the most common flow cytometry laser and filter configurations, where dyes can be excited by UV, Violet, Blue, Yellow Green, and Red lasers. Live-or-Dye The Sampler Kit, Spectral (32017) is designed for spectral scanning flow cytometry. It contains dyes that can be excited by ultraviolet, violet, blue, and red lasers, all of which have been demonstrated in Cytek ®  The Aurora spectral cell analyzer was validated and selected due to its ability to fill many gaps in the spectral flow panel.

Live-or-Dye Fixed Viability Stains have dead cell specificity for all cell types, including mammalian cells, bacteria, and yeast.
