生产方法 由碳酸锌煅烧而得。 

由氢氧化锌煅烧分解而得。 

由粗氧化锌冶炼成锌，再经高温空气氧化而成。

生产方法 目前采用的方法有经锌锭为原料的间接法（也称法国法），以锌矿石为原料的直接法（也称美国法）和湿法三种。 

医药级氧化锌性状：白色结晶体或粉末，属六角晶系。无臭、无毒、无砂性、质细腻。着色力是碱式碳酸铅的2倍，遮盖力是二氧化太和硫化锌的一半。不溶于水及乙醇，溶于酸、氢氧化钠、氯化铵，属两性氧化物。高温加热时呈黄色，冷却后恢复白色。在潮湿空气中能吸收二氧化碳和水分渐渐变成碱式碳酸锌。也能被碳或一氧化碳还原为金属锌。氧化锌晶格中存在过剩锌，锌的**电离能比较低，易失去电子，而氧化锌电子移动度比空穴移动度大得多，可视为n型半导体。
